There is a lot of energy for progressing D&I in our industry and we know that everyone attending D&I in Grocery LIVE! is committed to this for the benefit of our colleagues, consumers and the industry. But are we making any progress? Are we moving the dial to the next level? How do we move on from education and awareness, and start to place some expectations on ourselves to demonstrate that all of our hard work is making the real difference we want and need? For many, data is the answer, but unfortunately it’s not that simple – is it?  This panel aims to delve deep into the debate and challenges of measuring D&I progression, if it should be done at all, and if so – how?

As an individual leading an employee resource group, Clieo is a change over and above her day job. Despite not being part of the senior leadership team, Clieo has the passion to create change in her place of work.

Clieo joined Amazon Fresh Physical stores two and a half years ago and is currently overseeing the Central London sites as a Regional Manager.

Clieo has recently stepped into the DEI lead role for Amazon Fresh's physical stores and is passionate about ensuring diversity and inclusion is a focal point as the business grows in the grocery industry. Clieo has just under 10 years’ experience in the grocery industry.

Director of DEI & Insights, Unthink
Adrienne is a D&I practitioner/expert working outside of the Grocery industry who will bring insight about what is working well in other industries and the similar challenges faced.
Adrienne Milner

Dr Adrienne Milner, a leading policy expert and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brunel University specialises in addressing various inequities, including race, ethnicity, and sexuality.

As Unthink's Director of DEI and Insights, she utilises advanced statistical analysis in conjunction with qualitative methodology to audit global companies' demographics, D&I maturity, and needs of minoritised groups, providing strategic guidance for targeted interventions. She has also authored two books and 40+ peer-reviewed works on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

RICHARD SHARP

Head of HR, Unilever UK & Ireland
As a valued Partner of the D&I in Grocery Programme, Richard will talk about the top-down approach to D&I as a Senior Leader, and why D&I measurement can be challenged from an overall business perspective.

Since 2019, Richard has held prominent HR roles at Unilever UK & Ireland, becoming Head of Unilever UK in July 2022. He's taken on key global HR positions across markets like the Americas, Nordics, and Customer Development/E-Commerce at Unilever's Rotterdam HQ.

Richard actively promotes social mobility, inclusion, and equity both in and out of the workplace. He sits on the steer group for Movement To Work and represents Unilever on the Business Taskforce for The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s ‘Shaping Us’ campaign.

KEITH BLACK

Director of diversity, equity and inclusion, Sainsbury's
In his D&I role Keith faces the challenges of progressing D&I on a daily basis and can share the benefits and barriers data can have on a D&I strategy.
Keith Black

Keith Black has been at Sainsbury’s for over 13 years, taking on varying roles in Buying and Category before becoming Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. He champions inclusion and believes that sometimes the smallest of gestures can make the biggest difference. His most recent role has taken that passion to the next level as he leads as D&I in Grocery Strategy Chair, accelerating a diverse grocery sector.

As a D&I practitioner, Keith knows all too well the importance of measuring success both within Sainsbury’s and the D&I in Grocery Programme.

Headline Partners can host a 25-minute LIVE Lab. This is a formal learning session, where the audience has headphones, silent disco style.  This session is delivered twice across the day on the D&I topic of their choice. Contact us if you would like to host a LIVE Lab for 2023.
