STORY TO INSPIRE

In 2017, Alex Fishwick left prison a free man determined to turn his life around following years of chronic drug addiction, suicide attempts, and prison sentences. Booths supermarket in Penwortham offered Alex a job as a customer assistant, which provided an invaluable gateway to creating a better life for himself and his family.
Since leaving prison and getting clean through AA meetings, Alex has transformed his life, graduating from university in 2022 with a 1st in Psychology and Criminology. Today, Alex speaks to young people in gangs, prisons, schools and police teams about the possibilities of change, he has even spoken at the House of Lords. Now father to a two year old little boy, Alex credits the opportunity that Booths gave him as playing a huge role in his recovery, shining a light on the incredible impact inclusivity can have on an individual and generations to come.
Booths is currently rolling out an initiative to both offer work opportunities to offenders who are released on temporary licence and support the work of the Employment Advisories Boards in the North West. Alex is a key voice to support the understanding of what an ex-offender may need from a business as they return to the community from confinement.
